Who We Are

Careers Happen Here!

What is the Career Center?

The Career Center is a service of the Jackson County Intermediate School District and provides Jackson County and surrounding school districts with career and technical education resources. Every year, nearly 1,200 students take advantage of our applied learning classes paired with the latest technology, training and equipment.

Students can choose from a diverse panel of programs – each with an eye on growing industries and available jobs. All programs have certified instructors with practical, on-the-job experience to share with their students. Classes are a combination of academics and hands-on projects, creating a challenging and unique learning environment. Students earn credit toward their high school diploma. In many of our programs, options for college credit and industry certifications are also available. The Career Center works to help students explore possibilities, develop skills, and achieve success.

Students in their junior and/or senior years enroll in Career Center classes as part of their regular high school schedule. Flexible scheduling and class structures allow students to attend either morning or afternoon sessions, usually for about two hours a day. Jackson County high school students attend the Career Center free of charge, while school districts outside of Jackson County pay a modest tuition rate. It takes hard work and dedication to learn what it takes to be a professional in your industry; but the Career Center is ready with the tools and training to get you going!

The Career Center celebrates its long-standing relationship with the local community, including Jackson area employers, local districts, and postsecondary education or training facilities. We keep close ties with our business contacts through advisory committees made up of business leaders, students, and other educators who keep us current with industry trends. Our most important relationships are with our students and parents – we care about each and every student, and are dedicated to helping them develop as a person and achieve their individual goals.
