Course Description

Medical Insurance and Coding Specialists provide medical billing and coding services to physician’s offices and medical specialty practices. Insurance and Coding Specialists must be knowledgeable and possess skills in the areas of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic and procedural coding, insurance claims processing, and medical billing procedures.

Prerequisites

High School Diploma or GED
9th grade reading level

Grades

Students must earn an overall grade of 75% or higher to earn a certificate of completion.

Certifications

National Certification examination cost through the National Center for Competency Testing is not included in the tuition cost. 
Testing will require candidates to bring their own current coding books.
