Phlebotomy Technician
Course Description
Phlebotomy technicians collect and prepare quality blood specimens and other specimens for laboratory testing. Phlebotomists predominantly work in hospital laboratories, but they may also work in commercial laboratories, blood banks, physician’s offices or clinics, and other places where specimens are collected. The technician has direct patient contact and must create an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures, getting vital signs, and minimizing pre-analytical errors in a safe and accurate manner. The Phlebotomist must be knowledgeable and possess skills in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medical law and ethics, infection control & safety, and more.

*Students are required to cover the cost of disposable examination gloves and their own burgundy scrubs to wear for each class. Books are included.
