College & Career Readiness Overview

College & Career Readiness

The Jackson County Intermediate School District and Jackson Area Career Center support activities that allow all students enrolled in Jackson County schools to explore career choices, develop an interest in a career area, and prepare an Educational Development Plan (EDP).

Beginning in the seventh grade, students work with their school to develop their EDP. Each school year through the 12th grade the student updates his/her individual career plans. Exploration happens through, but is not limited to, activities such as job shadowing, teacher externships, business presentations and partnerships, field trips, college preparedness, and planned visits to the Career Center. From work based learning to free college credit opportunities, visit any of the pages within this section to learn more about what the Career Center is doing to prepare students for life after high school.
